Steel Framing

Steel Framing is used in Australia for more than 50 years. Predominantly the steel frames were used in the construction of industrial and commercial buildings, however, recently the steel frames are used in the residential developments.

At SNG Engineers we have several years of experience in the design and documentation of different types of steel framing structures.

Types of Steel Framing Design Services Provided By SNG Engineers

HOT-ROLLED STEEL FRAMES

Hot-rolled steel is manufactured at very high temperature using a process which prevents the steel from hardening while it is fabricated. The hot-rolled sections are very strong and are predominantly used for long spans. Hot-Rolled steel frames are used in industrial sheds, shopping centres and some architectural houses.

COLD-ROLLED STEEL FRAMES

Cold-rolled steel is manufactured at room temperature using a roll forming machine using high tensile steel to manufacture desired sections. The cold formed steel is also used in industrial buildings and residential buildings predominantly for purlins, girts joists etc. In residential buildings, they are used in steel frame houses as lintels and beams.

LIGHT GAUGE STEEL FRAMES

Light Gauge Steel is cold rolled steel with long, thin sheets guided through a series of rollers to bend and shape the sheets into strong ‘C’ Section to use them in the fabrication of steel wall frames, roof trusses, floor trusses etc.
